Fox News, Newsmax and other right-wing outlets have been spreading their propaganda for years. These networks have repeatedly shown that they put their agenda before the truth. They’ve claimed that the 2020 presidential elections were rigged and that the insurrection on January 6 never took place. How do they get by?
Answer: These companies are morally bankrupt. The companies are only interested in making dollars. Their advertisers also want to get a return on investment, so they ignore the lies and unethical behaviors of these corporations. For profit, they are willing to compromise their journalistic integrity as well as their viewers’ trust.
Even more alarming is the fact that their viewers have been influenced by right-wing propaganda for many years, if not decades. They are not open-minded to other viewpoints, as they believe that what they hear is the truth. They know this, and they take advantage of the viewers’ lack education and critical-thinking skills.
Also, it is worth noting that their lack of higher-education amongst their viewers is no coincidence. Since decades, the right-wing media has actively worked to undermine education. They know that people who are educated are less likely than others to believe in conspiracies and to demand fact-based reporting. They ensure their propaganda’s effectiveness by keeping their audience ignorant.
These right-wing media outlets are nothing but fascist propaganda machine. To achieve their goals, they are willing to lie, incite violence and undermine democracy. They are only concerned about their own actions and the money they can make.
We all have a responsibility to be aware of the dangers these networks pose and to hold them responsible. We must insist that our media adhere to the highest standards in journalistic integrity, and only report what is necessary for their agenda. We must also teach ourselves and our community to be critical thinkers, and to resist fascist propaganda.
