Jumby Bay has a rich history, first discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1493 and claimed by the British in 1632. The island, named after the Antiguan term “jumbie” meaning playful spirit, was developed into a luxury resort in the 1980s. It is now owned by a group of dedicated homeowners who reflect an elegant, island lifestyle.
The resort’s recent $28-million upgrade draws inspiration from its natural beauty and tradition of elegance. The design features Caribbean-inspired color palettes and simple, sophisticated decor.
The newly remodeled Jumby Bay, reopening on December 1, 2009, will offer 40 enhanced guest rooms, including 28 new suites.
