Aman has just opened its first resort in the Dominican Republic, named Amanera. Nestled on the island’s remote Playa Grande North Coast, the resort offers stunning views of the seven-mile-long Playa Grande Beach and is surrounded by 2,000 acres of lush, untouched jungle and the dramatic Cordillera Septentrional mountain range. Amanera also introduces Aman’s first integrated golf experience. The Playa Grande Golf Course, spanning 370 acres, is known for having the most oceanside holes in the Western Hemisphere, providing unique views and challenging play on every hole.

The resort’s design embraces the “Aman” aesthetic, blending seamlessly with its striking surroundings. Perched atop 60-foot cliffs, the 25 casitas feature green rooftops and use all-natural local materials, including Dominican art, local stone, and handmade Aguayo tiles. Each one-bedroom casita offers unobstructed ocean views from a spacious terrace, with outdoor seating, lounging areas, and a private garden. Thirteen of these casitas have their own 32-foot private swimming pools. The standout accommodation is the two-bedroom Bay View Casa, which boasts the best cliff-side location, panoramic ocean views, and a 65-foot infinity pool.

The Playa Grande Golf Course, originally designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr., has been recently renovated by his son, Rees Jones, known for his work on many U.S. Open venues. The course features 10 holes directly on ocean cliffs, making it the course with the most oceanfront holes in the Western Hemisphere. Stretching 7,085 yards along the coastline, it offers unique views and challenging play due to the rugged cliffs and multiple bays.

Amanera will soon welcome a new Aman Clubhouse, which will include a restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as a bar for post-golf drinks. The clubhouse will also feature a pro shop, fitness center, tennis courts, and an Aman Spa. The spa will be a peaceful retreat, offering single and double treatment rooms, a holistic wellness approach, and a range of massages, facials, scrubs, and wraps. Signature Spa Journeys will use Aman’s chemical-free products and incorporate traditional shamanic healing.

The fitness center will provide a full range of cardiovascular and strength equipment, a personal training studio, and additional wellness facilities such as a steam room, sauna, and relaxation room.

The Dominican Republic’s north coast, known as the ‘Green Coast’ for its lush landscapes and vibrant local culture, is a pristine and relatively untouched region, perfect for exploration by adventurous travelers.
