With summer vacation season here, many of us are eager to swap our work desks for beachside relaxation. Thanks to last-minute booking sites, grabbing a summer rental on short notice is easier than ever. But how can you ensure that your “beachview” rental lives up to its promises?
We reached out to Brian Corbett, Chief Experience Officer and co-founder of Inspirato by American Express, to get his top tips for making sure your rental is everything you hoped for and more.
First, check on the property’s amenities. Ask about the pool—whether it’s heated and if there’s enough outdoor seating. For the barbecue, find out if it’s professionally cleaned between guests, whether it uses propane or charcoal, and if those supplies are provided.
If any issues come up, especially over a holiday weekend, know how they’ll be handled. Also, check if ongoing maintenance, like pool cleaning and housekeeping, is scheduled during your stay.
It’s a good idea to inquire about local ordinances, such as noise restrictions, and get details about the neighborhood. Rental owners and managers can provide useful advice on nearby attractions, like golf courses. Some rental owners and clubs, such as Inspirato, may offer access to exclusive amenities you wouldn’t get otherwise.
Even though many rentals are listed online, don’t skip the chance to speak directly with the property manager or owner. A quick phone call can clear up many questions.
With these tips, you’re all set to enjoy the best summer rental experience ever.
