Aman, the luxury resort brand, is gearing up for an exciting expansion. Following their upcoming property in the Dominican Republic, they’ve announced the opening of Amanemu in Ise Shima National Park, Japan, scheduled for early 2016. This will be Aman’s first hot spring resort and its second property in Japan.
Amanemu will be nestled on the shores of Ago Bay, known as the ‘Bay of Pearls,’ and will feature 24 suites and four villas. It will celebrate Japan’s traditional onsen (mineral hot spring) experience in a tranquil natural setting. Guests can look forward to an extensive Aman Spa, a lap pool, a restaurant, and a lounge.
The resort is conveniently located 186 miles southwest of Tokyo and is also easily reachable from Nagoya. It’s a prominent yet serene location, with Shima set to host the G7 Summit in 2016.
The name Amanemu combines the Sanskrit word for ‘peace’ with the Japanese word for ‘joy.’ The resort will reflect classic Japanese ryokan style, providing a luxurious retreat that blends seamlessly with its surroundings.
Each suite will offer spacious terraces with views of Ago Bay and its surrounding islands, complete with private onsen facilities. The Aman Spa will include two large onsen bathing pavilions, a watsu pool, four treatment suites, a gym, and a yoga studio.
The on-site restaurant will feature Japanese cuisine and highlight the region’s rich gourmet heritage, known historically as Miketsukuni, the breadbasket of the ancient Imperial Court.
Additionally, Amanemu will offer tailored Aman Journeys, focusing on cultural experiences and the finest local attractions, including the UNESCO-protected pilgrimage routes of Kumano Kodō and Ise-Jingū, Japan’s most sacred Shintō shrine.
