It can be scary to start a new business. Starting one as a Black entrepreneur is even scarier. Most Black entrepreneurs in Canada are not wealthy; they are immigrants who have dreams of a comfortable lifestyle and do what makes them happy.
Many black entrepreneurs in Canada have made significant contributions to the economy. They have also been successful within the culinary sector. In thousands of restaurants, authentic African and Caribbean cuisine is served, using recipes that have been passed down through generations. Not to be outdone, many of the five-star restaurants are run by chefs who have a wealth of experience and can prepare the most delicious fine dining dishes.
Many restaurants have closed their doors since COVID-19. Those that remain open are still struggling to keep afloat. Knight, the Executive Director of the Afro-Caribbean Business Network, was not happy about the idea of any Black Business failing.
